Manage chat settings for Microsoft Teams

Chat isn’t currently available in the Atlassian Government environment.

Chat allows you to connect your service project with Microsoft Teams so you can turn messages into work items and continue to work on them, all without leaving Teams. Find out more about chat.

You can customize your settings based on how your agents manage work items in Teams.

Manage work item approvals

By default, work item approvals are turned on in chat. This means approvers receive a message from Assist when a work item requires their approval, and they can take action directly from Teams.

If an approver group is assigned a work item, they won’t receive notification in Teams and need to take action from email or Jira Service Management.

To turn off work item approvals:

  1. Next to your service project’s name in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Project settings.

  2. Select Channels & self service, then Chat.

  3. From the Settings tab, turn off the Approvals in chat.
