Ceribell begins trading with upsized IPO

Ceribell Inc. launched its initial public offering of more than 10.6 million shares of common stock at $17 and steadily saw the trading value rise, before closing just over $25 on Oct. 11 per share. Ceribell, which developed a portable electroencephalogram for use in intensive care and emergency department settings, expected to gross $180.3 million from the IPO excluding any exercise of the underwriters’ option to purchase additional shares. The IPO will close on Oct. 15.

Setpoint plans to launch the 60-person trial in 2025 to evaluate the use of its implantable neurostimulation device to slow or reverse the nerve damage characteristic of multiple sclerosis.

The E4 variant of the APO gene, the R47H variant of the TREM2 gene, and female sex are three of the strongest risk factors for the development of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). By combining all three of them in a mouse model of tauopathy, researchers at Weill Cornell Medical School have identified microglial inflammation and senescence as processes that occurred more strongly in female mice as tauopathy developed.

The three-year old Merchant Biotech Fund (MBF) invested in several high growth ASX-listed and private life sciences companies and finished the past financial year up more than 70%. Among 16 to 24-year-olds, over half feel anxiety multiple times a week due to their chronic pain and almost one in three said that they “feel like they can’t go on” because of their pain.
