We are excited to announce the first Swiss Open Academic Data (SOAD) Day, taking place on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at ETH Zürich. This event will bring together researchers and practitioners active in Switzerland to explore Open Academic Data—how to use it, share best practices, and build a strong community around it.
In our understanding, Open Academic Data is data about research and includes metadata on research output such as publications, research data and software, as well as data on funding and grants. Open sources include the platforms OpenAlex, OpenAIRE, ORCID, Crossref, and ETER, among others. Whether you work with these datasets directly or are interested in leveraging them for research and innovation, this event is for you.
We invite contributions in three formats:
- Lightning Talk (10-15 minutes) – Short, engaging presentation sharing insights, experiences, or projects related to Open Academic Data.
- Workshop (1 hour) – Interactive session allowing participants to dive deeper into a specific topic, tool, or methodology related to Open Academic Data.
- Mini-hackathon (2 hours) – A collaborative format where teams of participants develop innovative solutions to a challenge related to Open Academic Data.
Moreover, we are also open for additional contribution types as long as they relate to Open Academic Data.
A selection committee will review all proposals, and we may adjust the session durations as needed to fit the program. If you have multiple proposals, you are welcome to submit them separately.
The Call for Contributions is closed. The program of the first SOAD Day (10 September) will soon be published.
