Sync teams data from Workday

Atlassian teams can now be synced with your teams and reporting line structures in Workday. This allows you to have a single source of truth for teams and team membership, since teams will only be manageable in Workday by organization admins. The synced teams will become managed teams in Atlassian, and any changes to teams in Workday will be automatically applied to the corresponding team in Atlassian.

Before you begin

Sync teams data from a connector

Note: Teams can only be synced with one Workday connector, and any synced teams will be visible across your site or organization.

If your organization uses Talent, it’s recommended to use the same Workday connector to ensure that both apps are using the same, consistent data.

  1. In the Teams app, select the Settings icon () in the top right corner to open Admin settings.

  2. Select HRIS connections.

    1. If your organization admin has not yet configured the Teamwork Graph connector for Workday, they will need to do so before proceeding to the next step.

  3. In the section titled Sync HRIS teams in the Teams app, select Sync for the connector you want to use.

Data will begin syncing with Workday’s data, and it may take some time before all of the data from Workday is reflect in Teams. If you need to switch to a different Workday connector, you will need to stop syncing from the current connector first.

Data is automatically synced from the connector every few hours, but organization admins can manually sync data at any time from the Workday connector’s settings in Atlassian Administration.

Disconnecting a connector

If you choose to stop syncing Teams with a Workday connector while it's still connected in Atlassian Administration, you’ll have the option of either converting the synced teams to normal, closed-membership teams that can be managed by its members or deleting the teams altogether.

If you sync again from a previously used connector, those teams will also be re-synced. If you chose to keep the teams when you originally disconnected, those teams will start syncing again from the connector and can no longer be managed by its members.

If your organization admin disconnects the Workday connector in Atlassian Administration before you stop syncing with Teams, then the synced teams will be automatically be deleted.
