'Issue' is changing to 'work item'. You might notice some inconsistencies while this big change takes place.

Automatically assign work items to people

If you’re creating or editing a work item and don’t know who to assign it to, you can choose the Automatic option for the Assignee field, which will do one of the following:

  • If there are component(s) on a work item, the work item will be assigned to the Default assignee of one of the components. Project admins can change the Default assignee of components by going to a project and then selecting:

  1. Next to your service project’s name in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Project settings.

  2. Select Components. More about organizing work with components.

  • If there are no components with default assignees on a work item, the work item will be assigned to the project’s Default assignee. Admins can change the project’s Default assignee by going to a project and then selecting:

  1. Next to your service project’s name in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Project settings.

  2. Select Details.
